Cole Ragans struck out eight over six innings and allowed one unearned run, and it was enough to lose. Minnesota held 1-0 from the second until the eighth, when both teams traded sacrifice flies, and then the ninth broke it: Matt Wallner, Kody Clemens, and Josh Bell hit solo homers off Steven Cruz and John Schreiber, three swings that turned a 2-1 game into 5-1. Taj Bradley threw 100 pitches for six shutout innings, and Kansas City's seven hits on the night produced one run. Eight men left on base, and the Royals' lone run came home on Vinnie Pasquantino's sacrifice fly in the eighth.
