Andrés Muñoz came in to protect a three-run lead and gave up four hits, a walk, and five runs in two-thirds of an inning — Jackson Merrill's two-run double the blow that put San Diego ahead. Emerson Hancock had given Seattle six innings of two-run baseball, and Randy Arozarena crossed the plate three times. Luke Raley's two-run homer in the fifth left his bat at 113.2 mph and traveled 434 feet, part of a 6-3 lead that lasted until the ninth. Alek Jacob, who threw two scoreless innings to keep the Padres close, was the winner of record.
