The diamond fills teal when the run scores; the out lands in the box of the runner it was made on. Names link to their pages at www.feverbaseball.com. New to the marks? The primer scores a full inning from scratch. Every pitch under these marks is typed, clocked and located off the same official feed. A hand-scorer could record what happened; nobody could record the pitch that did it.

Munetaka Murakami's two-run homer in the fifth left his bat at 114.1 mph, the hardest contact of the night, and it was one of four Chicago longballs on a night when Jeffrey Springs gave up nine hits and seven earned runs. Derek Hill and Darell Hernaiz each hit their first home runs of the season — Hill's for Chicago, Hernaiz's for the Athletics — and Miguel Vargas and Colson Montgomery added theirs for the White Sox. Noah Schultz gave up one hit in five innings and struck out six, and that should have made the late innings comfortable. Grant Taylor allowed three earned runs in relief, and Zack Gelof's first double of the year drove in two in the seventh, but Seranthony Domínguez came on for the ninth and struck out one to finish it.
