Houston was down 4-1 in the eighth when Yordan Alvarez hit his tenth home run of the year and Isaac Paredes singled home two more to force extras. The Cardinals had gotten there behind Matthew Liberatore, who gave up three hits over six innings and left with a lead that JoJo Romero could not hold. In the tenth, Masyn Winn lined a ground-ball double to left that cleared the bases, and St. Louis scored three to go ahead for good. Gordon Graceffo needed seven pitches to record the save — all of one out — and Houston's last rally was a Jose Altuve single that brought home one.
