MacKenzie Gore threw 106 pitches in five innings, walked three, allowed three earned, and left trailing 3-2, because Jeffrey Springs matched him inning for inning until Josh Jung's home run in the sixth. Jung's shot went to right center and scored Corey Seager, who had singled earlier in the frame. The Athletics had seven hits, scored three times — all in the second and third — then left eight on base and did not score again. Jacob Latz needed fourteen pitches in the ninth and struck out one.
