Pete Crow-Armstrong homered in the fourth and drove in the go-ahead run on a groundout in the sixth, and Matt Shaw was on base for both. Jameson Taillon gave the Cubs seven innings of three-run ball on 95 pitches, and the Padres managed three hits all night — two of them home runs. Matt Shaw's solo shot in the eighth became the winning run when Fernando Tatis Jr.'s sacrifice fly cut it to one. Hoby Milner needed three pitches for the save. Adrian Morejon gave up the go-ahead run in the sixth and took the loss.
