The fifth inning had three home runs in it — Chase DeLauter for Cleveland, then Zack Gelof and Tyler Soderstrom for the Athletics, with a Brent Rooker single in between. Gelof's ball left at 105.6 mph and traveled 429 feet. Soderstrom's went 379. Parker Messick had struck out six in five innings but gave up four earned and took the loss. Aaron Civale went six, allowed seven hits, and gave up one run. Jeff McNeil's three-run double in the sixth, on a 103.5 mph line drive, turned a lead into a rout. Colby Thomas hit his first home run of the year in the second. Cleveland left eight on base and scored once.
