Christian Scott handed the bullpen a one-run lead after 4.2 innings, and the Mets' relievers held it into the eighth. Then Craig Kimbrel came in. Four hits and a walk later — McCarthy's grand slam the crusher, 107.4 mph off the bat, 448 feet to right — Kimbrel had blown the save and taken the loss, four earned on three hits in one inning. McCarthy drove in five on the night, having earlier doubled in a run. Antonio Senzatela got the win in relief with two clean innings. Jose Quintana had given Colorado six strong, two earned over 5.2, and left with the game tied. Kimbrel was the one who untied it, the wrong way.
