Corbin Carroll's solo shot in the third — his fifth of the year, on a 93 mph fastball — gave Arizona a brief 2-1 edge, but the Pirates responded in the fifth with back-to-back RBI singles from O'Hearn and Horwitz, both scoring Reynolds. Mitch Keller made it stand: six innings, four hits, two earned. Gregory Soto needed fourteen pitches, eleven strikes, for the save. Gallen took the loss despite striking out five over six — the four earned runs were the damage. Joey Bart's line-drive homer to left center in the sixth, his second of the season, gave Pittsburgh the insurance run they ended up needing.
