Kyle Finnegan came in to protect a one-run lead in the eighth and gave up three hits and two runs without recording an out. Kyle Isbel tied it with a single and won it with another in the ninth — a ground ball through the left side that scored Nick Loftin. Keider Montero had given Detroit six innings of one-run ball, and Spencer Torkelson's double in the sixth had put the Tigers ahead. Brant Hurter took the loss in relief. Detroit left nine on base.
