Witt's inside-the-park homer — a line drive down the right-field line on a 95.9 mph fastball — scored two in the first, and Michael Wacha made it hold up with seven innings of two-hit, zero-run baseball. Michael Massey added a three-run shot in the fourth on an 86.9 mph cutter. Burch Smith recorded one out before leaving, and Ty Madden threw six innings of relief allowing three earned. Detroit's four hits produced one run, and that came in the eighth.
