Schmitt's first homer came on a 3-2 sweeper to left; his second, in the fifth, was a first-pitch cutter to right for two runs — his eighth of the season. Trevor McDonald went 6.2 innings with five strikeouts and one earned run. Rooker's three-run homer in the eighth left the bat at 109.5 mph and cut the lead to two, but Matt Gage needed only fifteen pitches to close the ninth. Luis Severino took the loss with ten hits and five earned in six innings.
