Tyrone Taylor's three-run home run in the ninth tied a game the Mets had trailed since the third, and Carson Benge's fielder's choice in the tenth sent Marcus Semien home with the winning run. David Bednar faced three hitters in the ninth, gave up three earned, and did not record an out — Tim Hill took the loss in a third of an inning. The Mets left 12 on base and still scored seven; the Yankees left nine and scored six, and that gap is the game. Anthony Volpe's first double of the year came in a losing effort, and his two-run single in the sixth had given New York a lead that lasted until the ninth.
