Chandler struck out 11 in five innings and gave up two hits, and the line says 0 earned runs — but he took the loss, because three errors behind him turned two hits into three runs. Gausman went 6.2 with one earned and eight strikeouts, and Louis Varland covered the last two innings without allowing a hit. Piñango's two-run double in the third, at 114.8 mph off the bat, was the swing that put Toronto ahead for good. Pittsburgh left seven on base and committed three errors, and the eleven strikeouts Chandler rung up went into a game he lost.
