Zac Gallen gave up runs in the 4th and the 6th, and both times the Diamondbacks had already scored enough to absorb them. Ketel Marte's home run left the bat at 112.4 mph — the hardest contact of the night — and stretched the lead to three. TJ Rumfield's 8th-inning homer made it 5-4 and gave Colorado the kind of hope that costs something, because the next inning Paul Sewald needed 12 pitches to end it, eight of them strikes. Michael Lorenzen threw 94 pitches in five innings, and the five runs he handed Arizona were the entire margin. Colorado spent the last six innings getting closer and never arrived.
