Stephen Kolek threw 108 pitches over nine innings, allowed four hits, and Seattle never crossed the plate. The hardest ball the Mariners hit all night was a Julio Rodríguez groundout at 108.7 mph, and it traveled 16 feet. Kansas City scored three times in the first — a fielder's choice, a groundout, and a Jac Caglianone single — and George Kirby worked six innings with five runs, only three of them earned. Cole Young's throwing error in the first came before all three of those runs scored.
