Nelson threw 103 pitches across eight innings, gave up six hits, and allowed one run. He walked three and struck out three, and by the time he left the Diamondbacks led by eight. Quintana recorded four outs — 1.1 innings, six hits, six earned, 33 pitches. Carroll tripled twice, once in the first and again in the sixth, both on curveballs. Marte's double in the second left the bat at 115.8 mph, the hardest contact of the night, and drove in two. Ryan Waldschmidt hit his first career triple in the third. Tommy Troy doubled twice. Colorado used five pitchers and none of them kept the game within reach. Nelson has now gone at least seven innings in three of his last four starts, and this was the one where the offense gave him room to breathe.
