Ketel Marte's home run in the seventh traveled 452 feet at 113.7 mph off the bat, a two-run shot that gave Arizona a lead they kept. Tyler Mahle had left after five innings having allowed three earned on 81 pitches, and the seventh produced three runs between the two clubs — Marte's homer for Arizona, Eric Haase's solo shot for San Francisco. Casey Schmitt homered in the first and singled in a run in the third, but the Giants trailed from the second inning on. Eduardo Rodriguez got the win with six innings of two-run ball, and Paul Sewald allowed a run in the ninth but closed it.
