Two hits in seven innings, nine strikeouts, no walks — and May walked off with an L because the run support never came and the defense behind him gave one away. Bryan Torres tripled in the fourth to score Jordan Walker, and that was St. Louis's only run, because Chad Patrick gave the Brewers four innings and struck out four. Christian Yelich's ground-ball single to right in the eighth scored Garrett Mitchell, and Aaron Ashby and Trevor Megill covered the last three innings without allowing a run. St. Louis committed two errors and left seven on base, and the Cardinals' last six outs came from Ashby and Megill, who struck out three.
