Pete Alonso turned around an 84.3 mph changeup at 2-2 and hit it 400 feet to left field — 110.8 mph off the bat, the hardest contact of the night — and that swing flipped a 1-0 deficit into a lead Shane Baz made stand. Baz went seven innings, gave up four hits, struck out six, and the only damage came on sacrifice flies. Coby Mayo's home run in the second, reviewed and overturned to a homer, had cut Boston's lead in half before Alonso's shot. Connelly Early took the loss — four earned in 5.1 innings. Rico Garcia needed fourteen pitches to close the ninth, two strikeouts, no baserunners.
