Freddie Freeman's two-run homer in the first and Shohei Ohtani's two-run triple in the second built a lead Los Angeles spent the rest of the night protecting. Ohtani's ball came on an 86 mph changeup, a line drive to right that scored two, and it was the second triple of his year. Arizona left twelve on base — eleven hits, five runs, and the rest left standing. Kyle Hurt walked three and gave up three earned in 0.2 innings in the seventh, the inning that nearly cost it. Nolan Arenado's two-run double and Pavin Smith's bases-loaded walk made it a one-run game. Tanner Scott needed twenty pitches to close it.
