Three triples in one game is a generosity a lineup rarely offers, and Washington got them from Cox, Young, and Lile — the last scoring an insurance run in the 9th. Brad Lord gave the Nationals 2.2 innings without a run after Andrew Alvarez had issued five walks across four frames, and that bridge held while San Francisco kept coming. The Giants collected 9 hits and scored in the 5th and 9th but left 13 men on base, each rally producing one run where two were needed. Garcia Jr. put Washington ahead in the 1st with a home run on an 81.9 mph curveball, and the Giants spent the rest of the evening reaching base and stopping there.
