Yoshinobu Yamamoto had not allowed a hit through eight innings and had walked nobody. The only baserunner the White Sox managed against him in 8.1 innings was Tristan Peters, whose solo home run in the ninth ended Yamamoto's night at 109 pitches. Max Muncy hit two home runs — a two-run shot in the first on a 3-0 fastball and another two-run drive in the eighth — and Shohei Ohtani's 14th of the year came two batters before Muncy's first. Sean Burke walked five in four innings and gave up four earned. Colson Montgomery hit the hardest ball of the night for Chicago — a 110.3 mph lineout — and it never left the infield.
