Iván Herrera hit two home runs — a two-run shot in the first on a 95.9 mph fastball and a solo drive in the seventh — and the Cardinals needed both. Minnesota tied it twice, on back-to-back homers from Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis in the fourth and on Luke Keaschall's two-run line drive in the fifth. Justin Lawrence gave up four earned runs in two-thirds of an inning, including Jordan Walker's 454-foot home run that left the bat at 116.6 mph. Matt Svanson threw 15 pitches across 1.2 innings for the win and did not allow a baserunner.
