Reid Detmers needed 90 pitches for seven innings, walked none, and held Arizona to four hits. Mike Trout homered for the seventeenth time and doubled in a run as part of a 14-hit Angels attack that put the game out of reach by the sixth. Merrill Kelly lasted 5.1 innings and left with eleven hits and six earned runs on his line. Arizona's five hits produced nothing, and the deficit only grew.
