Pallante went six innings, allowed six hits, struck out two, and left with a 3-1 lead. Alec Burleson's RBI single in the third put St. Louis ahead, and Nathan Church's single in the fourth made it 3-1. Corbin Carroll scored on Nolan Arenado's groundout in the sixth, and Tommy Troy's home run in the seventh — 444 feet to center, 109.9 mph — cut it to one. That was as close as Arizona got. Riley O'Brien needed seventeen pitches for the ninth, and the Diamondbacks went in order. Kelly took the loss, his three walks matching his three earned runs.
