Eight innings of zeros, and then the ninth happened. Eduardo Rodriguez gave Arizona 6.2 innings of three-hit, no-run ball. Kyle Leahy matched him — 6.1 innings, three hits, no runs. Then Matt Svanson gave up four runs in a third of an inning and took the loss. Nolan Arenado's double started it, Lourdes Gurriel's two-run single on a 3-2 cutter put Arizona ahead, and the Cardinals answered with three of their own before Brandyn Garcia got the last out. Paul Sewald allowed four hits and three earned runs in the top of the ninth. Every run scored in the final inning.
