Valdez hit his first triple of the season at 112.7 mph off the bat — a line drive to center that scored Brandon Lowe and broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh — and his sacrifice fly in the eighth gave him four RBI on the night. Three hits and two earned runs off José Alvarado in the same inning, and the Phillies finished with four hits. Nick Gonzales homered in the ninth. Jared Jones struck out six in four innings and Carmen Mlodzinski followed with three scoreless to finish it.
