The four-run lead San Diego built by the second was gone before Sasaki left the mound, and Jake Cronenworth's three-run homer — only his second of the year — was the biggest swing of a lead that didn't survive the fourth. Wandy Peralta followed and allowed six hits and four runs in one inning, and the Dodgers led for good. Manny Machado's two-run shot in the first had opened the scoring on a 97.2 mph fastball. Will Klein threw two innings of one-hit relief with three strikeouts, and Los Angeles finished with seventeen hits.
