Messick walked four and struck out one, but Miami managed a single hit against him in six innings — 91 pitches, 50 strikes, and a line that shouldn't work but did. Sandy Alcantara matched zeroes for seven innings with eight strikeouts and no walks, and still took the loss, because Chase DeLauter's two-run homer in the fourth was all the separation Cleveland needed. DeLauter's 10th of the year left the bat at 106.4 mph and traveled 430 feet. Cade Smith needed nine pitches for a clean ninth.
