Montgomery's three-run homer in the first — on a 91.4 mph sinker — capped a six-run inning for Chicago. Ginn took the loss: eight earned runs in 4.1 innings, with seven strikeouts in the same line. Schultz went five innings for the White Sox, gave up one run on four hits, and struck out four. Langeliers's home run in the first was the only run the Athletics scored.
