Detroit managed two hits in nine innings and did not score. Wheeler struck out ten in six innings on 96 pitches, and Skubal matched him for five — five strikeouts, two earned, 93 pitches — but left trailing. Realmuto's three-run double in the sixth, on a 95.9 mph sinker at 2-0, turned it into a game the Tigers could not reach, and Stott's single on an 81.2 mph knuckle curve brought him home. Realmuto took third on a throwing error by shortstop Kevin McGonigle. Three Phillies relievers covered the last three innings without allowing a hit.
