Skenes threw 100 pitches — 68 for strikes — struck out eight, and walked two. Cleveland's only run came on a Steven Kwan bunt single in the third that scored because of a missed catch at the plate. Billy Cook drove in the first and last Pittsburgh runs, and Jacob Gonzalez's double in the sixth gave the Pirates a lead they would not lose.
