Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a three-run homer in the first and a two-run shot in the third, both off Braxton Ashcraft, who lasted three innings and gave up eight runs. The third inning saw both clubs score — Pittsburgh pushed two across before New York answered with four, including Esmerlyn Valdez's 436-foot home run. After Ryan Weathers left at 99 pitches through 4.2, the Yankees' bullpen allowed one hit the rest of the way. Fernando Cruz struck out three in 1.1 innings for the save.
