Chaparro's three-run homer in the first came on an 0-0 changeup at 87.4 mph, and the Nationals led before the Rockies had batted. The Rockies pulled even on Willi Castro's three-run double in the third, and the game stayed tied through the fifth. Jacob Young broke it with a solo shot in the sixth, his ninth. After that, Cornelio, Krook, and Cosgrove allowed no hits the rest of the way — Cosgrove needing ten pitches for two innings, and every Colorado hit on the card belonging to Andrew Alvarez.
