Paul Skenes struck out eleven Cubs in 5.1 innings and left trailing 5-0, which is not a sentence that should be possible and is exactly what happened. He threw 105 pitches. The Cubs scored five off him — Pete Crow-Armstrong doubled to start the fifth-inning rally, and Seiya Suzuki followed with a two-run single — and then six more off the bullpen. Crow-Armstrong homered in the seventh, his 23rd, a two-run shot to right. Shota Imanaga gave four hits in six innings and Javier Assad needed thirty-two pitches to finish the last three. Skenes did everything the Pirates asked and the lineup gave him nothing, and the bullpen gave him less. That is the shape of a long night for a pitcher who did not deserve one.

A ABS (Automated Ball‑Strike) challenge — filled = overturned
The diamond fills teal when the run scores; the out lands in the box of the runner it was made on. Names link to their pages at www.feverbaseball.com. New to the marks? The primer scores a full inning from scratch. Every pitch under these marks is typed, clocked and located off the same official feed. A hand-scorer could record what happened; nobody could record the pitch that did it.
