Royce Lewis tripled for the first time this season with two on in the ninth — a 399-foot fly ball on a 93.3 mph cutter — and scored Victor Caratini and Brooks Lee to turn a one-run deficit into a one-run lead. Alex Lange took the loss having given up two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning, and 21 pitches was all it took. Taj Bradley struck out ten over six innings for Minnesota and Seth Lugo gave up one run over six for Kansas City, and both left with the score in the bullpen's hands. Lewis had not tripled all year, and the first one he hit decided it.
