Michael Petersen came in with the score tied in the eighth and gave up three hits before he recorded an out, the last of them Luis Robert Jr.'s single through the left side that scored Bo Bichette and Carson Benge. Eury Pérez had given Miami six innings and left trailing by a run, one of the two he surrendered unearned. Kyle Stowers hit a home run at 112.8 mph off the bat in the fourth, and Jakob Marsee tied it for Miami in the seventh with a shot to right center. Petersen faced four batters, gave up three hits and two earned runs, and did not finish the inning.
