Cade Cavalli threw 90 pitches in six innings, and the two he'd want back both left the yard — Mike Yastrzemski's on a 96.9 mph fastball in the third and Matt Olson's on a 93.1 mph cutter an inning later. Washington took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Andrés Chaparro was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and James Wood followed with a sacrifice fly at 108.4 mph off the bat. Atlanta retook the lead in the fifth, and Didier Fuentes struck out four in two clean innings to keep it there.
