Aaron Bummer came on in the eighth and gave up three earned runs without getting out of the inning — Josh Bell's RBI single and Brooks Lee's two-run single, both ground balls to right fielder Nick Loftin, turned a Kansas City lead into a one-run loss. Bailey Ober threw six innings with no walks and no strikeouts, 74 pitches, 50 strikes, and every out came on a ball in play. Michael Wacha left after five and two-thirds with a lead and three hits allowed. Alan Roden doubled for the first time this season.
