Shane Baz threw eight innings, struck out nine, walked one, allowed three hits, and needed only ninety-three pitches to do it — and he lost, because Joc Pederson caught a 91.5 mph cutter at 0-0 and sent it 414 feet to right field with Elias Díaz on base. That was the sixth inning. Nathan Eovaldi had already left after 5.1, and Tyler Alexander got the win for recording two outs in relief. Jacob Latz covered the final two innings for the save, working around two hits, and the Orioles finished with seven hits and one run, leaving eight on base. Baz did everything but score.
