Daniel Lynch IV gave up three runs in 2.1 innings, and the one that mattered was Ohtani's 27th home run — a fly ball to left center that left the bat at 109.5 mph and scored Miguel Rojas. Hunter Feduccia added a solo shot in the fifth, his third of the year. Lauer gave the Dodgers 6.1 innings of two-run, one-earned ball, and Landon Knack handled the last 2.2 without allowing a run. The Royals left nine on base and scored twice. Salvador Perez's RBI single briefly tied it, but the lead lasted only as long as it took Ohtani to get to the plate.
