Carlos Cortes jumped a 1-2 slider with the bases loaded in the first and lined it to right, clearing them — three runs before Texas had settled in. The Rangers' best answer was Jake Burger's three-run shot in the sixth, 106 mph off the bat, 428 feet to center, and it tied the game for about four minutes before Jeff McNeil's solo homer in the bottom half untied it. Kumar Rocker walked five in five innings and Gage Jump walked four in five and a third. Ten walks from the two starters is ten at-bats handed to the other side, and the Athletics scored in four separate innings off that charity.
