The third inning stretched it open — five runs for St. Louis while the Dodgers answered with three on Mookie Betts's three-run double, his seventeenth. Jordan Walker added his twenty-eighth in the fourth, a line drive to center measured at 109.3 mph and 409 feet, and the Cardinals kept adding runs whenever Los Angeles scored. Eric Lauer took the loss: seven earned on eight hits in three innings. The Dodgers left nine on base and never got the deficit under two after the third.
