Brad Lord struck out six across 3.1 innings of two-hit ball and left with the game 0-0. Sean Murphy's three-run homer in the sixth, a 1-1 slider sent to left field, was the first damage of the night. Ronald Acuña Jr. followed an inning later with a three-run shot of his own on a first-pitch sinker, and Ha-Seong Kim — whose first double of the year was part of the rally — scored on it. The Nationals managed two hits and left four on, and Riley Cornelio took the loss having given up three earned in 2.2 innings.
