Robbie Ray threw 68 pitches and walked four in two and a third innings, and two of those walks came around to score. Carlos Rodón gave him five innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts, and the lead New York built in the second held the rest of the way. Cody Bellinger's two-run single was the hit that opened it, and Manny Machado's twenty-fifth homer in the fourth was all San Diego could answer with. The Yankees left twelve on base and still scored five.
