Greene's two-run homer in the fifth — 106.7 mph off the bat, 417 feet — put Detroit ahead for good. Ryan struck out seven in four innings and left trailing, undone by the long ball: McGonigle's solo in the first and Greene's drive in the fifth. Walker Jenkins doubled in the sixth on a 105.2 mph line to center, scoring Larnach and Culpepper, the second double of his season. The Twins put the tying run on base in the eighth and the ninth and could not bring either home, and Minnesota left ten on base.
