Cal Quantrill handed the bullpen six innings on 70 pitches — 50 for strikes, no walks — and that efficiency is what made the late innings survivable. Nolan Arenado's three-run homer in the seventh cut the deficit, and Jacob Latz took the save chance and allowed three hits and two runs in the ninth before finding the last out. The lead Texas took in the first on Corey Seager's 458-foot home run is the only lead change this game saw.
