Jordan Montgomery came in for the last three and two-thirds and did not allow a hit — fifty-one pitches, one walk, one strikeout, and nothing the Blue Jays put in play found grass. José Soriano took the loss having given up six runs in five innings, eight strikeouts undone by four hits and a home run that put him behind from the first batter he faced. The sixth inning is where Texas pulled away: Langford's double scored Jung, Jansen took an 80.7 mph sweeper off his arm guard to force in another, and Carter's sacrifice fly brought the third run home. Jung's home run came on a 96.7 mph sinker on the first pitch he saw, and Texas never trailed after it.
