Corbin Carroll's two-run triple to right in the first — his seventeenth, on a 3-2 fastball — was the swing that put Arizona ahead for good. Gabriel Moreno and Nolan Arenado had already singled in runs, and it was 4-0 before Colorado settled in. Adael Amador's double in the second and Hunter Goodman's sac fly in the third cut it to two, but Merrill Kelly went five and a third, gave up four hits and two earned, and left with the lead. Tim Tawa and Ezequiel Tovar went back-to-back in the eighth — Tawa's eleventh, Tovar's twelfth — and it was 5-3. Jonathan Loáisiga saved it. Mason Adams took the loss despite six innings, eight strikeouts, and zero earned runs. Four unearned in the first.
